Legolas Meets Karl

Okay, had a bit of trouble trying to decide what catagory to put this pic under. I was torn between the Costumes category and the OMG I'm SO Happy! catagory. *lol*

This is one of the first and best pics I managed to get of my Legolas costume, made for Brisbane Supanova 2007. It JUST happens to be with one of my favorite actors, whom I respect VERY much, the very wonderful and friendly, Karl Urban. Surprisingly, I have recently discovered that a HUGE number of Aussies and KIWI's!!! don't even know who he is. I guess that's a good thing in a way, because it allows him more privacy and anonymity when he's home.

The costume is made of a form of faux suede and a poly/cotton/lycra blend, rather than real suede. This shirt underneath is silver charmeuse and then I wore grey leggings and flat green boots with faux suede lace up boot covers. Everything from the embroidery to the belt and vambraces were hand made by me and thrown together in about 2 weeks. Patterns for the boot covers and embroidery were inspired from Alley Cat Scratch.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time to mold my own ear tips and I didn't want to wear bad cheap ones so I went without. I hope to wear this again, but plan to update a few pieces before that, like the belt and vambraces, and possibly construct a quiver and harness for my white blades.
