In Sunlight

Animania 2005 - I didn't really plan anything for the convention due to the fact that I was entirely sure I was actually going to go; I had another event on for part of the weekend. However, I had been working on the EGL outfit for a couple weeks. It was meant to be a 'mock up', actually. A test of a design to see if it would actually work together and I could complete it with not difficulties before making it from the beautiful red gothic plaid I'd just bought. Once the skirt was done, though, (from spare grey plaid that I'd had floating about) I decided that it had turned out so nicely that it HAD to be an outfit.

Skirt - Alternating panels of grey wool plaid and dark grey suiting with grey plaid and white cotton ruffles. Accented with a wide lace ruffle at the bottom and assorted white laces and trims on the panels

Bodice - Grey plaid fron and back panels with alternating white and dark grey crushed velvet side panels. No sleeves, accented with white lace trims, a small whiet faux cravat and a large black satin ribbon bow

The Jacket! - My favorite part! A spur of the moment addition that hit me like lightning. Because the bodice had no sleeves and EGL clothes always have elaborate ones, I was thinking of making a little shrug. Instead, I made this bolero. Grey plaid witha dark grey suiting for the sleeves, all lined in black satin. Sleeves are ruffled with layers of grey plaid, black satin and white lace, the edge of the jacket is trimmed in white lace as well and it has a semi Snow White styled collar that can be worn laying down or up along the back of the neck. I really love this jacket and want to find more ways to wear it!!!

One of these days, I'm actually going to get around the make the red plaid version...with some variations.
